Birth Story - (by Mimi)
23 January 2006
2:00am
Pey had just finished watching a Liverpool match when I felt a gush so went to bathroom to check. Saw streaks of blood so called Dr Ang to report. Not expecting labour since this was 3 weeks prior to Estimated Due Date. Told doctor there wasnt any pain so was told to see him at the clinic in the morning. Tried to sleep.
3:00am
Felt contractions but tolerated the pain. Didnt time the frequency but seem to be getting closer. Read on pregnancy book to check if it could be false labour.
6:00am
Couldnt handle the pain and was convinced it was real labour. Called Dr Ang again and reported the contractions are less than 5mins apart. Was told to proceed to hospital. Woke Pey up.
Me: Dear, gotta go hospital
Pey: Ah? Want to give birth already ah?!!
Me: I dunno! Dr Ang said go hospital
Pey called Sandra (in 3rd floor room) while i changed.
Went downstairs and woke mom up. Mom stunned to be informed of contractions (she was expecting to be told of signs only).
Brother and Sandra raced down to 1st floor where I was already in pain on the floor. Mom made me drink zamzam water. Sandra grabbed dad's car keys, Pey grabbed my packed bag.
6.30am
Reached TMC and was wheelchaired to delivery ward. Water bag burst. Pey came in few minutes later after reporting the admission. Labour in progress. Already fully dilated. Dr Ang arrived... *in pain to remember details* Dr Ang informed of using vacuum. Pushed and pushed and pushed. Could only hear Pey's voice "a little bit more".
7:41am
